Tips Before Going

For campers, store all food in storage lockers, which are available at every campsite. Keep in mind that some roads can be closed during the winter season. If tire chains are needed, purchase them at the Village Garage in Yosemite Valley and the Wawona gas station. Pets are not welcome on unpaved trails, in wilderness ares and in Tamarack Flat.

Fees & Reservations

A $10 park entrance fee is required for those arriving by foot, horseback, bike or motorcycle. Entrance for cars are $20. Entrance fees are valid for seven days and offer unlimited park entries. If you come on holidays like Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (Jan. 21), or National Public Lands Day (Sept. 28), park entrance is free.


  • When is the best season to go?

    The park can be accessed year round, but it’s best to plan your visit on the kinds of activities you like to do. Admire wildflowers in the spring, zoom down snowy ski trails in the winter, or appreciate awe-inspiring fall colors in autumn. Depending on weather conditions, some roads might require chains or be closed.

    While visitors can enjoy bus tours, improve their nature photography skills, or spot colorful native birds, visitors will love exploring the park on foot.
